113: How to Be a Financially Savvy Woman with Whitney Hansen
You probably know you need to get a grip on your finances, but HOW do you do it? In this episode you’ll get a step-by-step plan that will help you master your finances in as little as 1 month.
What You'll Learn in this Episode:
- How to get a grip on your finances in only 30 minutes.
- How much money you should invest for retirement each month – and WHERE to put it.
- What apps you can add to your phone to make your financial management really easy
- And much more!
Nuggets of Wisdom from Whitney:
“'Go for no.' Every single day, I have to put myself out there in a way that’s very uncomfortable but will force me to grow as a person and as a business – by going for ‘no,' you are striving to get ‘no' but eventually getting some great ‘yeses!' Reframe your mindset around failure and actually put yourself in situations where you will probably be told no in the exchange of getting a yes later. This is something that I use to guide my life right this moment.”
“People need to get very clear on what’s important to them. What do you actually want in your financial life? Is financial security a big motivator for you? If so, if you don’t have an emergency fund, or some type of savings, or investment accounts, then you are going to feel unfulfilled for the most part. What’s that life like for them? Then we dive into figuring out where their money is actually going. This is a very painful thing for people to go through. Have you ever done that before? After, we do the goal setting and you are clear on where you are heading. Then we go through and do the bank statement exercise. The next step would be to create a basic spending plan.”
What does it mean to be a Vibrant Happy Woman?
“Working on projects that are bigger than you, being in nature and exploring often, and saving your money. To me, if you do all these three things, you will be a very happy camper.”
A Challenge from Whitney:
“Go through the bank statement exercise: then figure out where your money is actually going. This only takes 30 minutes max.
